Diabetes melitus merupakan penyakit metabolik yang berlangsung kronik dimana penderita diabetes tidak bisa memproduksi insulin dalam jumlah cukup. Lansia merupakan salah satu kategori usia yang banyak diketahui mengidap penyakit tersebut. Penderita diabetes khususnya lansia sangat rentan terhadap infeksi jamur yang dapat terjadi akibat tingginya glukosa darah yang berakibat fungsi kekebalan tubuh dalam menghadapi masuknya mikroba. Salah satu faktor predisposisi terjadinya infeksi jamur pada penderita diabetes melitus adalah perilaku perawatan kaki. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui hubungan perilaku perawatan kaki terhadap infeksi dermatofitosis pada penderita diabetes melitus. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei analitik dengan rancangan case control dengan Sampel berjumlah 30 orang lansia dari 33 orang jumlah populasi pada posyandu lansia Sungai Besar. Diagnosa ditegakkan dengan identifikasi jamur secara makroskopis, mikroskopis dan pembiakan pada media Potato Dextrose Agar. Hasil penelitian menunjukan persentase dermatofitosis pada lansia penderita diabetes melitus sebesar 40% dengan perilaku perawatan kaki baik 43% dan 57% kurang baik. Berdasarkan analisis hubungan secara statistik dengan metode chi square ditemukan adanya hubungan antara perilaku perawatan kaki terhadap infeksi dermatofitosis pada penderita diabetes melitus dengan nilai (p=0,042) dengan kekuatan hubungan sedang. Dari penelitian ini dapat disarankan kepada lansia penderita diabetes melitus agar dapat melakukan perilaku perawatan kaki yang baik guna mencegah komplikasi akibat infeksi dermatofosis.

FOOT CARE BEHAVIOUR AS PREDISPOSING FACTORS OF FOOT DERMATOPHYTOSIS INFECTION IN ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH DIABETES MELLITUS

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease which diabetics cannot produce insulin in sufficient amounts. The elderly is one of age categories that known to have that disease most. Diabetics, especially in elderly are very susceptible to fungal infections that can occur due to high blood glucose which can decrease the immune function to face microbes. One of the factors predisposing the occurrence of fungal infections in people with diabetes mellitus is foot care behaviour. The purpose of this research is to know the correlation between the foot care behavior to dermatophytosis infection in diabetes mellitus patient. This research is an analytical survey research and case control design with of 30 elderly people of samples from 33 people of population at Posyandu Lansia Sungai Besar. Diagnosis is confirmed by the identification of fungi macroscopic, microscopic and culture in Potato Dextrose Agar media. The results show the percentage of dermatophytosis in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus is 40% with good foot care behavior of 43% and 57% not good. Based on statistical correlation analysis with chi square method found the correlation between foot care behavior toward dermatophytosis infection in diabetes mellitus patients with value (p = 0,042) with medium strength. Suggestion from this research to elderly people with diabetes melitus in order to conduct good foot care behavior to prevent complications due to dermatophosis infection.
