Biofilter adalah sistem pengolahan limbah cair industri laundry yang memanfaatkan mikroorganisme yang tumbuh dan berkembang terlekat pada media kontak. Media kontak yang digunakan adalah pecahan keramik. Pada keramik mampu mengikat protein dan senyawa-senyawa kimia, sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai absorben pada limbah cair. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan ketebalan biofilter media filter keramik 20 cm dengan 30 cm dalam menurunkan kadar COD dan TSS limbah cair industri laundry.
Jenis penelitian ini adalah bersifat eksperimental yaitu melakukan percobaan dengan membedakan ketebalan media biofilter. Desain penelitian ini menggunakan Pretest and Postest Design. Analisa data menggunakan uji statistik One Way Analisys of Variance dengan α = 0,05.
Hasil analisis kandungan kadar COD dan TSS mengalami penurunan setelah dilakukan perlakuan disetiap media, ketebalan media filter keramik 20 cm sudah mampu menurunkan dengan persentasi kadar COD 39,53 % dan TSS 53,54 %. Sedangkan ketebalan media filter keramik 30 cm lebih signifikan menurunkan kadar COD yaitu sebesar 74,28 % dan TSS 79,42 %. Berdasarkan hasil uji statistik One Way Analisys of Variance bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dari kedua variasi ketebalan media biofilter tersebut karena nilai p (0,022) < α (0,05).
Dapat disarankan untuk penelitian selanjutnya dengan variasi ketebalan media filter dan jenis media filter yang digunakan terhadap waktu pengkondisian.

Biofilter is a laundry industry wastewater treatment system that utilizes microorganisms that grow and develop attached to contact media. The contact media used is ceramic fragments. In ceramics it is able to bind proteins and chemical compounds, so that it can be used as an absorbent in liquid waste. This study aims to determine the difference in thickness of ceramic filter media biofilter 20 cm with 30 cm in reducing the levels of COD and TSS in the laundry industry wastewater.
This type of research is experimental in that it conducts experiments by distinguishing the thickness of the biofilter media. The design of this study uses Pretest and Postest Design. Date analysis using One Way Analysis of Variance statistical test with α = 0.05.
The results of the analysis of the content of COD and TSS decreased after treatment in each media, the thickness of the 20 cm ceramic filter media was able to reduce the percentage of COD levels of 39.53% and TSS 53.54%. While the thickness of the 30 cm ceramic filter media was more significant in reducing COD levels by 74.28% and TSS 79.42%. Based on the results of the One Way Analysis of Variance statistical test that there are significant differences from the two variations of the thickness of the biofilter media because of the value of p (0.022) <α (0.05).
It can be suggested for further research with variations in the thickness of filter media and the type of filter media used for the conditioning.
