Flies are the insects of the order Dipthera, some of which need to be watched out and monitored for their existence. One of them is the type of house fly Musca domestica which can transmit disease to humans, so there is a need for alternative prevention and control measures that are environmentally friendly, namely using vegetable pandanus fragrant pesticides. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of fragrant Pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) on mortality of house flies (Musca domestica).
This type of research is True Experimental Design with a research design Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population in this study were house fly colonies and all that were grounded in the test cages with a total sample of 240 birds. The statistical test used in this study is Anova One Way and Kruskal-Wallis Test.
Based on the results of research on fragrant pandan solution with a concentration of 1%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%, it can kill house flies on average from 15% to 100%. The statistical test Anova One Way obtained the Sig. (0.036) <α (0.05) and the statistical Kruskal-Wallis Test obtained the value of Asymp. Sig. (0,049) <α (0,05) which means that there is an influence of variation in concentration and time of contact of vegetable pandanus fragrant pesticide (Pandanus amaryllifolius) on mortality of house fly Musca domestica.
Suggestions for further researchers need to do further research regarding the concentration of fragrant pandan solution on a large scale and more applicable. The health agencies can disseminate fragrant vegetable pandanus pesticides to the community as an environmentally friendly alternative. Then the community is able to apply vegetable pesticides as an alternative to reduce the proliferation of adult stage house flies.
