The increasing of a person’s age can affect the aspects of their life such as physical, biological, psychological, and social. It also triggers degenerative diseases due to the aging process. One of the common degenerative diseases affecting the elderly is hypertension. Hypertension is a condition of blood pressure in blood vessels that increases for a long time. Uric acid is the result of the final metabolism of purines, one of the components of nucleic acids found in the nucleus of the body's cells. This study aims to determine the relationship of blood uric acid levels with hypertension in the elderly at the Posyandu in East Landasan Ulin Region. This study is an analytical survey with a cross sectional design. Examination of uric acid levels using colorimetric enzymatic methods. The results of the examination of 21 elderly people were obtained by elderly with normal uric acid levels of 10 people (48%) and above the normal value of 11 people (52%), while the value of hypertension in the elderly with 1st degree hypertension was 11 people (52%) and second degree as many as 10 people (48%). Based on the Spearman correlation test it is known that there is no significant relationship between blood uric acid levels and hypertension (p=0.684). It is recommended for people, especially the elderly, to maintain a diet like avoiding foods that can increase uric acid levels in the blood and blood pressure. For further researchers, similar research can be carried out with elderly male respondents.
