media sampel ditumbuhi koloni jamur. Identifikasi mikroskopis dilakukan dengan
pewarnaan Lactophenol Cotton Blue. Dari 30 sampel jamu, 15 sampel (50%)
positif Aspergillus niger, 3 sampel (10%) positif Aspergillus niger dan Aspergillus
flavus, 2 sampel (7%) positif Aspergillus fumigatus dan Aspergillus niger, 4
sampel (13%) positif Penicillium sp., 5 sampel (17%) negatif, dan 1 sampel (3%)
positif Aspergillus flavus.
berkualitas.

Jamu is a traditional Indonesian medicine in the form of fresh powder or liquid,
made from natural ingredients using simple tools. To maintain safety, herbal
medicine containers must be tightly closed to protect the contents from
contamination. Herbal medicine must also be stored in good packaging so that it
is not contaminated by microbes and protected from damage due to air, humidity,
heat and light. Microbes such as the fungus Aspergillus sp. can contaminate herbs
and cause disease. Aspergillus sp. often found in the air and can contaminate
medicines and food during the manufacturing process. This research aims to
determine the type of fungus Aspergillus sp. on traditional herbal medicine
circulating in Banjarbaru in 2024. This research uses a descriptive survey method
with a cross sectional design. A total of 10 herbal medicine samples were taken
from different shops using purposive sampling technique, and each sample was
tested three times. Direct microscopic methods with 10% KOH and fungal culture
on SDA media were used in this research. The results showed that all sample
media were covered with fungal colonies. Microscopic identification was carried
out using Lactophenol Cotton Blue staining. Of the 30 herbal medicine samples,
15 samples (50%) were positive for Aspergillus niger, 3 samples (10%) were
positive for Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus, 2 samples (7%) were
positive for Aspergillus fumigatus and Aspergillus niger, 4 samples (13%) were
positive for Penicillium sp. ., 5 samples (17%) were negative, and 1 sample (3%)
was positive for Aspergillus flavus. In conclusion, the results of examination of 30
samples of traditional herbal medicine circulating in Banjarbaru showed
contamination with Aspergillus sp and Penicillium sp. The advice from this
research is that sellers or producers should avoid packaging that is wet, not
airtight, and easily torn, and pay more attention to storing powdered herbal
medicine to ensure it remains safe and of good quality.
