ABSTRAK
Perbedaan Kadar Kolesterol pada Perokok dan Bukan Perokok
Berdasarkan Kategori Usia

Kebiasaan merokok dapat memicu stimulasi sistem simpatis adrenal,
sehingga menyebabkan peningkatan sekresi hormon katekolamin yang
mengakibatkan terjadinya peningkatan lipolisis dan peningkatan konsentrasi asam
lemak bebas yang kemudian dapat mempengaruhi profil lipid salah satunya adalah
kolesterol. Pada usia yang semakin tua kadar kolesterol totalnya relatif lebih
tinggi daripada kadar kolesterol usia anak-anak, remaja dan dewasa. Hal ini
dikarenakan makin tua usia seseorang aktifitas reseptor hormone akan berkurang.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kadar kolesterol pada
perokok dan bukan perokok berdasarkan kategori usia. Jenis penelitian adalah
penelitian Observasional Analitik. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 64 responden.
Jumlah responden dibagi menjadi 4 kategori, kategori pertama perokok remaja,
kategori kedua non perokok remaja, kategori ketiga perokok dewasa, dan kategori
keempat non perokok dewasa. Hasil pemeriksaan didapatkan sebanyak 47 orang
dengan kadar kolesterol normal (120-198 mg/dl), 16 orang dengan kadar
kolesterol agak tinggi (202-239 mg/dl), serta 1 orang dengan kadar kolesterol
tinggi (248 mg/dl). Hasil T-Test Independent didapatkan nilai Signifikansi sebesar
0.000, artinya terdapat perbedaan bermakna kadar kolesterol antara perokok
remaja, non perokok remaja, perokok dewasa, dan non perokok dewasa.
Disarankan bagi peneliti selanjutnya dapat melakukan penelitian pada kadar
kolesterol perokok berdasarkan jumlah konsumsi rokok dan lamanya waktu
merokok.

ABSTRACT
The Differences of Cholesterol Levels in Smokers and Non-smokers
by Age Category

Smoking can trigger stimulation of the adrenal sympathetic system,
causing increased secretions of catecholamine hormone which causes an increase
lipolysis and increase consentration of free fatty acids which can then affect the
lipid profile, one of which is cholesterol. At an older age, the total cholesterol
level is relatively higher than the cholesterol level of children, adolescents and
adults. This is because the older a person is, the activity of hormone receptors will
decrease. This research to determine differences of cholesterol levels in smokers
and non-smokers by age category. The type of research is Observational Analitic.
This research was conducted on 64 respondents. The number of respondents is
divided into 4 categories, the first category is adolescent smokers, the second
category is adolescent non-smokers, the third category is adult smokers, and the
fourth category is adult non-smokers. The results of research obtained 47 people
with normal cholesterol levels (120-198 mg/dl), 16 people with moderately high
cholesterol levels (202-239 mg/dl), and 1 person with high cholesterol levels (248
mg/dl). T-Test Independent results obtained a significance value of 0.000,
meaning that there is a significant differences of cholesterol levels between
adolescent smokers, adolescent non-smokers, adult smokers, and adult non- smokers. It is recommended for further researcher to conduct research on
cholesterol levels of smokers based on the number of cigarettes consumed and the
length of time smoking.
