KARBON AKTIF KAYU MERANTI (Dipterocarpaceae) SEBAGAI MEDIA ADSORBEN UNTUK MEMPERBAIKI KUALITAS pH, KADAR BESI (Fe) DAN KEKERUHAN PADA AIR SUNGAI

Air sungai Anjir secara fisik terlihat keruh, dan berwarna kecoklatan. Berdasarkan hasil pemeriksaan yang dilakukan sebelum diberikan perlakuan didapatkan hasil pH air 3,1, kadar besi (Fe) 2,62 mg/L dan tingkat kekeruhan 53,7 NTU. Jika dibandingkan dengan baku mutu air bersih belum memenuhi persyaratan yaitu pH 6,5-8,5, kadar besi 1 mg/L dan kekeruhan 25 NTU. Perlu dilakukan penelitian karbon aktif kayu meranti dalam memperbaiki kualitas pH, kadar besi (Fe) dan tingkat kekeruhan air sungai Anjir.
Jenis penelitian yaitu eksperimen dengan Pretest-Posstest Only Control Group Design, dengan 5 variasi berat karbon aktif dan 5 kali pengulangan. Variasi berat karbon adalah 0 gram, 3,5 gram, 4 gram, 4,5 gram, dan 5 gram.
Hasil kadar besi (Fe) pada sampel air yang paling efektif pada variasi berat karbon aktif 4,5 gram dengan penurunan 0,58 mg/L (57,17%). Karbon aktif kayu meranti dapat dijadikan sebagai media untuk adsorbsi yang murah untuk memperbaiki kualitas air sungai Anjir.

Physically, Anjir river water looks cloudy, and brownish in color. Based on the results of the examination carried out before being given treatment, it was found that the pH of the water was 3.1, the level of iron (Fe) was 2.62 mg/L and the turbidity level was 53.7 NTU. When compared with the standard for clean water, it does not meet the requirements, namely pH 6.5-8.5, iron content of 1 mg/L and turbidity of 25 NTU. It is necessary to do research on activated carbon of meranti wood in improving the quality of pH, iron (Fe) content and turbidity level of Anjir river water.
The type of research is an experiment with Pretest-Posstest Only Control Group Design, with 5 variations of activated carbon weight and 5 repetitions. The variations in carbon weight are 0 grams, 3.5 grams, 4 grams, 4.5 grams, and 5 grams.
The results of the iron (Fe) content in the water sample were most effective with a weight variation of 4.5 grams of activated carbon with a decrease of 0.58 mg/L (57.17%). Meranti wood activated carbon can be used as an inexpensive adsorption medium to improve the water quality of the Anjir river.
