Rampant caries is a term used to describe a condition where most or all of the baby teeth are widely decayed and develop rapidly. This caries is often found in children under five years of age, rampant caries has characteristics such as the occurrence very quickly compared to ordinary caries and often includes the lower teeth which are usually resistant to caries, white to yellow carious cavities, soft carious tissue, and frequent caries. cause pain or even swelling can occur immediately.
The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge of parents about rampant caries in children at Mawar Kindergarten, Tanah Laut Regency. This type of research is descriptive research and the research design is carried out directly (survey). The population is 43 people, using the Total Sampling technique. This study uses descriptive data analysis.
The results showed that the knowledge of parents about rampant caries was more who had less knowledge than the moderate and good level of knowledge, consisting of 8 respondents having good knowledge with a percentage (18.6%), 15 respondents having moderate knowledge with a percentage (34, 9%), 20 respondents have less knowledge with a percentage (46.5%).
The conclusion of this study is that the knowledge of most parents about rampant caries in children in Mawar Kindergarten, Tanah Laut Regency has a poor level of knowledge. So it is advisable to hold a program to improve dental and oral health at Mawar Kindergarten in collaboration with the nearest health service, such as regular dental and oral examinations.
