Data WHO tahun 2017 menunjukkan bahwa penyakit jantung koroner
(PJK) menduduki urutan pertama sebagai penyebab kematian di dunia. Salah satu
faktor utama terjadinya PJK adalah kadar kolesterol yang tinggi. Ageratum
conyzoides L. atau bandotan termasuk salah satu tumbuhan yang memiliki khasiat
sebagai obat. Tanaman ini mengandung senyawa flavonoid, saponin dan tannin
yang dapat menurunkan kadar kolesterol. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk
mengetahui pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun bandotan terhadap penurunan kadar
kolesterol total pada mencit jantan. Metode penelitian Quasi Experiment
rancangan Pretest-Posttest with Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian daun
bandotan yang diekstrak dengan etanol 96% dengan bahan pemeriksaan 35 ekor
mencit jantan dengan 4 ekor mencit setiap kelompoknya. Analisis data
menggunakan uji Regresi linear. Hasil pengukuran kadar kolesterol diperoleh
kadar sebelum dan sesudah pemberian ekstrak pada dosis 50 mg/kg BB berturutturut dari 173 mg/dL, 160 mg/dL, dan 152 mg/dL menjadi 169 mg/dL, 158
mg/dL, 150 mg/dL, dosis 100 mg/kg BB dari 157 mg/dL, 163 mg/dL, 158 mg/dL,
dan 155 mg/dL menjadi 151 mg/dL, 153 mg/dL, 150 mg/dL, dosis 150 mg/kg BB
dari 161 mg/dL, 152 mg/dL dan 160 mg/dL menjadi 132 mg/dL, 119 mg/dL, dan
123 mg/dL dan dosis 200 mg/kg BB berturut turut dari 174 mg/dL, 164 mg/dL,
dan 185 mg/dL menjadi 131 mg/dL, 124 mg/dL. Hasil statistik diperoleh R square
0,911 maka dapat disimpulkan besar pengaruh pemberian ekstrak etanol daun
bandotan terhadap penurunan kadar kolesterol total mencit jantan sebesar 91,1%.
Disarankan bagi peneliti selanjutnya melakukan penelitian pengaruh ekstrak
etanol daun bandotan terhadap kadar kolesterol total pada hewan coba lain.

Data from WHO in 2017 shows that coronary heart disease (CHD) ranks
first as the cause of death in the world. One of the main factors in the occurrence
of CHD is high cholesterol levels. Ageratum conyzoides L. or bandotan is a plant
that has medicinal properties. This plant contains flavonoids, saponins and tannins
which can lower cholesterol levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the
effect of the ethanol extract bandotan leaves on reducing total cholesterol levels in
male mice. The research method is Quasi Experiment with Pretest-Posttest with
Control Group Design. The sample of the study is bandotan leaves extracted with
96% ethanol with 35 male mice with 4 mice in each group. Data analysis using
linear regression test. The results of measuring cholesterol levels obtained levels
before and after giving the extract at the dose of 50 mg/kg BW respectively from
173 mg/dL, 160 mg/dL, and 152 mg/dL to 169 mg/dL, 158 mg/dL, 150 mg/dL,
dose of 100 mg/kg BW from 157 mg/dL, 163 mg/dL, 158 mg/dL, and 155 mg/dL
to 151 mg/dL, 153 mg/dL, 150 mg/dL, dose of 150 mg/kg BW from 161 mg/dL,
152 mg/dL and 160 mg/dL to 132 mg/dL, 119 mg/dL, and 123 mg/dL and dose of
200 mg/kg BW respectively from 174 mg/dL, 164 mg/dL, and 185 mg/dL to 131
mg/dL, 124 mg/dL. The statistical results obtained R square 0.911, it can be
concluded that the effect of the ethanol extract of bandotan leaves on the decrease
in total cholesterol levels of male mice is 91.1%. It is recommended for further
researchers to conduct research on the effect of ethanol extract of bandotan leaves
on total cholesterol levels in other experimental animals.
