Air Gambut adalah air permukaan yang banyak terdapat di daerah rawa maupun dataran rendah, memiliki kadar zat organik tinggi, berwarna kuning atau coklat tua dan memiliki kadar besi tinggi. Tingginya kandungan besi air memiliki dampak buruk bagi kesehatan manusia. Salah satu metode yang dapat digunakan untuk mengolah jenis air berwarna alami adalah adsorpsi dengan menggunakan limbah daun mahkota nanas (Ananas comosus L. Merr.). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh serbuk aktif daun mahkota nanas terhadap kadar besi air gambut. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan rancangan pretest – posttest with control. Bahan penelitian ini adalah daun mahkota nanas dan variasi yang digunakan adalah variasi massa adsorben (gram) : 0,5; 1,0; 1,5; 2,0 dengan kecepatan pengadukan 200 rpm selama 30 menit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa serbuk aktif daun mahkota nanas dapat menurunkan kadar besi air gambut dari 6,126 mg/L menjadi 5,55 (0,5 gram); 4,87 (1,0 gram); 4,26 (1,5 gram) dan 3,98 (2,0 gram). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah massa serbuk yang paling efektif yaitu 2,0 gram 35,03% dan berdasarkan uji statistik didapatkann nilai signifikan 0.0000 yang berarti serbuk aktif daun mahkota nanas memiliki pengaruh terhadap kadar besi air gambut. Untuk penelitian selanjutnya, dapat dilakukan pemeriksaan terhadap kadar logam berat selain besi dan variasi massa yang ditingkatkan.

ABSTRACT 
EFFECT ADDITION OF PINEAPPLE CROWN LEAVES POWDER  (Ananas comosus L. Merr.) TO IRON (Fe) PEAT WATER

Peat Water is a surface water that is widely found in swamp and lowland areas, has a high level of organic substances, yellow or dark brown and has high iron levels. The high content of iron water has a bad impact on human health. One method that can be used to process natural colored water type is adsorption by using the waste of the crown leaves pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr.). This study aims to determine the effect of active powder of pineapple crown leaves against the iron level of peat water. The type of research used is pretest-posttest with experimental control design. The material of this study is the leaves of the pineapple Crown and the variation used is a variation of the mass adsorbent (gram): 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0 with a stirring speed of 200 rpm for 30 minutes. The results showed that activated powder of the crown of pineapple leaves can lower the iron level of peat water from 6.126 mg/L to 5.55 (0.5 grams); 4.87 (1.0 grams); 4.26 (1.5 grams) and 3.98 (2.0 grams). The conclusion of this research is the most effective powder mass which is 2.0 grams 35.03% and based on statistical test was got a significant value of 0.0000 which means the active powder leaves of pineapple Crown can be used to reduce iron level of peat water. For further research, inspection of heavy metal levels in addition to iron and increased mass variation is possible.
