Kecoa amerika (Periplaneta americana) adalah salah satu jenis serangga hama yang hidup di lingkungan rumah dan dapat menularkan penyakit seperti diare, tifus, hepatitis A dan kolera. Pengendalian kecoa salah satunya adalah menggunakan insektisida dari tumbuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan efektivitas antara larutan bawang putih (Allium sativum) dan larutan daun pandan wangi (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb) sebagai insektisida alami untuk kecoa amerika (Periplaneta americana).
Jenis penelitian ini adalah True Experiment dengan desain posttest only control group. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu kecoa amerika (Periplaneta americana) dengan jumlah 270 ekor dan 3 kali pengulangan. Analisis data menggunakan uji Kruskal Wallis.
Hasil uji Kruskal Wallis menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan antara insektisida larutan bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi. Perbedaan insektisida larutan bawang putih dengan konsentrasi 10% sebesar 26,6%, 20% sebesar 26,6%, 30% sebesar 33,3% dan 40% sebesar 56,6%. Sedangkan larutan daun panda wangi dengan konsentrasi 10% sebesar 10%, 20% sebesar 23,3%, 30% sebesar 36,6% dan 40% sebesar 53%. 
Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa larutan bawang putih dan daun pandan wangi mampu berperan sebagai insektisida kecoa. Kedua bahan efektif pada konsentrasi 40% yang mampu membunuh separuh hewan uji. Disarankan bagi masyarakat mampu mengaplikasikan insektisida alami sebagai alternatif untuk mengurangi perkembangbiakan kecoa stadium dewasa.

The American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) is a type of insect pest that lives in the home environment and can transmit diseases such as diarrhea, typhus, hepatitis A and cholera. One way to control cockroaches is to use insecticides from plants. The aim of this research was to determine the difference in effectiveness between garlic solution (Allium sativum) and fragrant pandan leaf solution (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb) as natural insecticides for American cockroaches (Periplaneta americana).
This type of research was a True Experiment with a posttest only control group design. The samples in this study were American cockroaches (Periplaneta americana) with a total of 270 individuals and 3 repetitions. Data analysis used the Kruskal Wallis test. 
The results of the Kruskal Wallis test showed that there was a difference between the insecticide of garlic solution and fragrant pandan leaves. The difference in garlic solution insecticide with a concentration of 10% was 26.6%, 20% was 26.6%, 30% was 33.3% and 40% was 56.6%. Meanwhile, the fragrant panda leaf solution with a concentration of 10% was 10%, 20% was 23.3%, 30% was 36.6% and 40% was 53%.
The results showed that the garlic solution and fragrant pandanus leaves can act as cockroach insecticides. Both ingredients are effective at a concentration of 40% which is able to kill half of the test animals. It is recommended that the community be able to apply natural insecticides as an alternative to reduce the proliferation of adult stage cockroaches.
