Limbah cair puskesmas merupakan sumber pencemar yang mengandung senyawa 
organik, kimia serta mikroorganisme. Unsur yang menjadi parameter kimia dan 
mikrobiologi adalah Amoniak dan bakteri Koliform. Limbah cair yang dihasilkan oleh 
IPAL Puskesmas Sungai Besar tidak dilakukan monitoring serta pemeriksaan 
laboratorium dan limbah cair yang dihasilkan masih sedikit berbau. Pengolahan limbah 
cair dapat dilakukan secara kimia dengan menggunakan Kaporit. Penelitian ini bertujuan 
untuk mengetahui efektivitas dari kaporit dalam menurunkan kadar Amoniak dan Bakteri 
Koliform pada limbah cair Puskesmas. 
Jenis penelitian ini adalah True Eksperimental Design dengan Desain penelitian 
Posttest-Only Control Design. Variabel bebas berupa Dosis Kaporit dan Variabel terikat 
Kadar Amoniak dan Bakteri Koliform. Sampel penelitian ini adalah sebagian limbah cair 
puskesmas pada perlakuan penelitian dengan dosis kaporit menggunakan metode grab 
sampling (sampel sesaat). 
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Kadar Amoniak sebelum perlakuan13,52 
mg/L dan Jumlah Bakteri Koliform 24.000 MPN/100 ml. Setelah Perlakuan 
menggunakan Kaporit Kadar Amoniak menjadi 1,42 mg/L dan jumlah Bakteri Koliform 0 
MPN/100 ml. Dosis optimum keduanya adalah 0,1 gr/L dengan Efisiensi penurunan 
Kadar Amoniak 89,50% dan Bakteri Koliform 100%. Analisisis statistik menunjukkan 
Kaporit memiliki efek signifikan terhadap penurunan Amoniak dan Bakteri Koliform.  
Penelitian ini dapat dijadikan acuan untuk penentuan dosis optimum kaporit 
sebesar 0,1 gr/L dalam menurunkan kadar Amoniak dan Bakteri Koliform limbah cair 
Puskesmas. Bagi peneliti selanjutnya perlu dilakukan penelitian lebih lanjut pada dosis 
kaporit 0,05 gr – 0,1 gr untuk mengetahui dosis yang lebih sesuai. Hasil dari penelitian ini 
dapat dijadikan acuan bagi peneliti selanjutnya terkait variasi dosis kaporit dalam 
menurunkan kadar Amoniak dan Bakteri Koliform.

Health center liquid waste is a source of pollutants containing organic, chemical 
and microorganism compounds. The elements that become chemical and microbiological 
parameters are Ammonia and Coliform bacteria. The liquid waste produced by the Sungai 
Besar Health Center WWTP is not monitored and laboratory examined and the liquid 
waste produced still smells a little. Liquid waste treatment can be done chemically using 
Chlorine. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of chlorine in reducing 
Ammonia and Coliform Bacteria levels in Puskesmas liquid waste.  
This type of research is True Experimental Design with Posttest-Only Control 
Design research design. The independent variable is the Chlorine Dose and the dependent 
variable is Ammonia and Coliform Bacteria Levels. The sample of this study was part of 
the liquid waste of the health center in the research treatment with a dose of chlorine 
using the grab sampling method (instantaneous sample). 
The results showed that ammonia levels before treatment were 13.52 mg/L and 
the number of coliform bacteria was 24,000 MPN/100 ml. After treatment using Chlorine 
Ammonia levels to 1.42 mg/L and the number of Coliform Bacteria 0 MPN/100 ml. The 
optimum dose of both is 0.1 gr/L with a reduction efficiency of 89.50% ammonia levels 
and 100% coliform bacteria. Statistical analysis shows Chlorine has a significant effect 
on reducing Ammonia and Coliform Bacteria.  
This study can be used as a reference for determining the optimum dose of 
chlorine of 0.1 gr/L in reducing Ammonia and Coliform Bacteria levels of Puskesmas 
liquid waste. For further researchers, further research needs to be carried out at a chlorine 
dose of 0.05 gr - 0.1 gr to find out a more appropriate dose. The results of this study can 
be used as a reference for further researchers related to variations in chlorine doses in 
reducing Ammonia and Coliform Bacteria levels.
