Pengaruh Kombinasi Bunga Telang (Clitoria ternatea), Serai (Cymbopogon 
citratus), dan Jahe (Zingiber officinale) terhadap Aktivitas Antioksidan

Radikal bebas di dalam tubuh mengakibatkan penyakit degeneratif seperti penyakit 
kardiovaskuler, diabetes mellitus tipe II, penuaan dini, tumor, dan kanker. Untuk 
menghindari efek buruk tersebut diperlukan senyawa antioksidan yang dapat 
menghambat aktivitas radikal bebas. Salah satu sumber antioksidan alami yang 
diyakini mampu menghambat radikal bebas adalah kombinasi tanaman herbal yang 
sering dikonsumsi masyarakat Indonesia, yaitu bunga telang, serai, dan jahe. 
Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi bunga telang, serai, dan 
jahe terhadap aktivitas antioksidan. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen dengan uji 
aktivitas antioksidan kombinasi bunga telang, serai, dan jahe dengan metode DPPH 
(2,2-Difenil-1-Pikrilhidrazil) yang diukur menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis 
pada panjang gelombang 530 nm. Rancangan penelitian adalah  posttest only 
control group design. Hasil penelitian didapatkan % inhibisi DPPH kombinasi 
bunga telang : serai : jahe (1:0:0, 0:1:0, 0:0:1, 1:1:1, 2:1:1, 1:2:1, 1:1:2, dan 2:1:2) 
berturut-turut adalah 55,75 %, 56,16 %, 55,54 %, 52,54 %, 53,34 %, 53,79 %, 52,04 
%, dan 54,67 %. Hasil analisis statistik one way anova didapatkan kombinasi 
sampel memiliki perbedaan bermakna, dengan nilai ρ = 0,000 yang lebih kecil dari 
0,05. Kesimpulan  penelitian yaitu ada pengaruh kombinasi bunga telang, serai, dan 
jahe terhadap aktivitas antioksidan. Saran bagi peneliti selanjutnya agar dapat 
mengubah sampel atau menggunakan metode uji aktivitas antioksidan yang 
berbeda.

Effect of Combination of Butterfly Pea Flower (Clitoria ternatea), 
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus), and Ginger (Zingiber officinale) on 
Antioxidant Activity

Free radicals in the body cause degenerative diseases such as cardiovascular 
disease, type II diabetes mellitus, premature aging, tumors, and cancer. To avoid 
these adverse effects, antioxidant compounds are needed to inhibit free radical 
activity. One of the sources of natural antioxidants which are believed to be able to 
inhibit free radical activity is a combination from herbal plants that are often 
consumed by Indonesian people, namely butterfly pea flower, lemongrass, and 
ginger. The research purposes is to determine the effect of the combination of 
butterfly pea flowers, lemon grass and ginger on antioxidant activity. This type of 
research is an experiment with the antioxidant activity test of a combination of 
butterfly pea flower, lemongrass, and ginger using the DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1
Pikrylhidrazyl) method which measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a 
wavelength of 530 nm. The research design is posttest only control group design. 
The results showed that the % DPPH inhibition of the combination of butterfly pea 
flower : lemongrass : ginger (1:0:0, 0:1:0, 0:0:1, 1:1:1, 2:1:1, 1:2:1, 1:1:2, and 2:1:2) 
are 55.75 %, 56.16 %, 55.54 %, 52.54 %, 53.34 %, 53.79 %, 52.04 %, and 54.67 
%. The results of the one way Anova statistical analysis showed that the sample 
combination, which had a significant difference, with a value of ρ = 0.000 which 
was less than 0.05. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of a 
combination of butterfly pea flowers, lemongrass, and ginger on antioxidant 
activity. Suggestions for future researchers to be able to change the sample or use a 
different antioxidant activity test method.
