Air sungai merupakan bahan baku utama untuk suplai air bersih. Berdasarkan hasil uji pendahuluan yang dilakukan pada air sungai Martapura diperoleh tingkat kekeruhan sebesar 44,6 NTU yang belum memenuhi baku mutu. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi tingkat kekeruhan dapat menggunakan karbon aktif ampas tebu. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui efektivitas ampas tebu sebagai karbon aktif dalam memperbaiki kualitas air sungai ditinjau dari parameter kekeruhan. 
Jenis penelitian yaitu true eksperimen dengan post-test only control group design. Populasi penelitian yaitu seluruh air sungai Martapura. Sampel penelitian yaitu air sungai Martapura yang diambil pada titik Desa Sungai Tabuk Keramat.
Hasil perlakuan berdasarkan dosis yaitu 0 gr/L (24,68 NTU), 5 gr/L (9,86 NTU), 10 gr/L (12,02 NTU), 15 gr/L (14,24 NTU), dan 20 gr/L (16,7 NTU). Analisis perbedaan tingkat kekeruhan menggunakan uji One Way Anova dengan sig (0,000) < α (0,05) artinya ada perbedaan kekeruhan setelah diberikan perlakuan. Penambahan 5 gr/L adalah dosis optimal yang efektif memperbaiki kualitas air sungai ditinjau dari parameter kekeruhan sampai 9,86 NTU sebesar 78%.
Ampas tebu dapat digunakan sebagai karbon aktif dalam pengolahan air sungai. Perlu adanya penelitian lanjutan yang memanfaatkan ampas tebu sebagai karbon aktif dengan memperkecil rentang dosis yang akan digunakan.

River water is the main raw material for clean water  supply.  Based on the results of preliminary tests conducted on  martapura river water  , a  turbidity level of 44.6 NTU  was obtained which did not meet quality standards. One  way to overcome the  level of turbidity can be using bagasse  activated carbon.  The purpose of the  study was to  determine the  effectiveness of bagasse  as activated carbon in improving river water  quality in terms of turbidity parameters. 
The type of research is true experimentation with post-test only control group design.  The study population  is the entire water of the Martapura river.  The research sample  was martapura river water taken at the point of Tabuk Keramat River  Village.
The results of the treatment based on dose are 0 gr / L (24.68 NTU), 5 gr / L (9.86 NTU), 10 gr / L (12.02 NTU), 15 gr / L (14.24 NTU), and 20 gr / L (16.7 NTU).  Analysis of differences in turbidity levels using the  One Way Anova test  with a sig (0.000) < α (0.05) means that there is a difference in turbidity after being given treatment.  The addition of 5 gr / L is  the optimal dose that effectively improves river water  quality in terms of turbidity parameters  up to  9.86 NTU of 78%.
 Bagasse can be  used as activated carbon  in river water  treatment.  There needs to be further research that utilizes bagasse  as activated carbon  by reducing the dose range  to be used.
