Val.) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN JAMUR

Dermatofitosis tersebar di seluruh dunia menurut World Health 
Organization (WHO) 20% orang dari seluruh dunia mengalami dermatofit, salah 
satunya yang paling dominan adalah infeksi Kutaneus dan infeksi Tinea korporis
yang disebabkan oleh Trichophyton rubrum. Trichophyton rubrum merupakan 
jamur dermatofita yang termasuk dalam kategori jamur antropofilik dan sering 
menyebabkan penyakit kronis. Jamur ini dapat menginfeksi rambut, kulit, dan 
kuku. Daun kunyit (Curcuma domestica Val.) mengandung senyawa metabolit 
sekunder seperti saponin, tannin, flavonoid, steroid, dan triterpenoid kandungan 
metabolit sekunder tersebut diduga dapat menghambat pertumbuhan jamur 
Trichophyton rubrum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh 
ekstrak etanol daun kunyit terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Trichophyton rubrum. 
Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah true experiment dengan rancangan 
Posttest Only Control Group Design yang terdiri atas 8 perlakuan yakni kontrol 
positif, kontrol negatif, 10%, 20 %, 30 %, 40 %, dan 50 % ekstrak etanol daun 
kunyit dengan 5 kali pengulangan. Bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini 
adalah ekstrak daun kunyit yang dimaserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96%, dihasilkan 
esktrak yang kemudian dilakukan uji aktivitas antijamur dilakukan dengan 
menggunakan penentuan Konsentrasi Hambat Minimum (KHM) dan Konsentrasi 
Bunuh Minimum (KBM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak etanol daun 
kunyit pada penentuan KHM dan KBM berturut-turut pada konsentrasi 10% dan 
30%. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian ini terdapat pengaruh ekstrak etanol daun kunyit 
terhadap pertumbuhan jamur Trichophyton rubrum. Penelitian ini dapat 
dilanjutkan dengan mengetahui lebih spesifik mengenai senyawa bioaktif dari 
daun kunyit yang memiliki aktivitas antijamur terhadap Trichophyton rubrum.

ABSTRACT
Ethanol Extract of Curcuma domestica Val. Tumeric Leaves Against 
Trichophyton rubrum growth

Dermatophytosis is spread throughout the world according to the World 
Health Organization (WHO) 20% of people from all over the world experience 
dermatophytes, one of which is the most dominant being cutaneous infection and
Tinea corporis infection caused by Trichophyton rubrum. Trichophyton rubrum is 
a dermatophyte fungus that belongs to the category of anthropophilic fungi and 
often causes chronic disease. This fungus can infect hair, skin and nails. Turmeric 
(Curcuma domestica Val.) leaves contain secondary metabolites such as saponins, 
tannins, flavonoids, steroids, and triterpenoid which are thought to inhibit the 
growth of Trichophyton rubrum. This study aims to determine the effect of 
ethanol extract of turmeric leaves on the growth of the fungus Trichophyton 
rubrum. The type of research used was a true experiment with Posttest Only 
Control Group Design consisting of 8 treatments, namely positive control, 
negative control, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% ethanol extract of turmeric 
leaves with 5 repetitions. The material used in this study was turmeric leaf extract 
macerated with 96% ethanol solvent, the resulting extract was then tested for 
antifungal activity using the determination of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration 
(MIC) and Minimum Bacterial Concentration (MBC). The results showed that the 
ethanol extract of turmeric leaves on the determination of MIC and MBC at 
concentrations of 10% and 30%, respectively. The conclusion of this research is 
that there is an effect of ethanol extract of turmeric leaves on the growth of the 
fungus Trichophyton rubrum. This research can be continued by learning more 
specifically about the bioactive compounds from turmeric leaves which have 
antifungal activity against Trichophyton rubrum.
