“KEMAMPUAN PROSES SEDIMENTASI, AERASI DAN ADSORBSI DALAM MENURUNKAN KADAR AMONIAK PADA LIMBAH CAIR INDUSTRI TAHU”

Industri tahu merupakan salah satu industri yang menghasilkan limbah cair mengandung bahan organik. Bahan organik tersebut akan diuraikan oleh mikroorganisme menjadi amoniak. Kadar amoniak yang berlebih akan mengganggu kesehatan dan lingkungan. Proses yang dapat digunakan untuk mengolah limbah cair industri tahu diantaranya sedimentasi, aerasi dan adsorbsi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan proses sedimentasi, aerasi dan adsorbsi dalam menurunkan kadar amonaik pada limbah cair industri tahu. 
Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen, menggunakan desain Posttest Only Control Group Design. Terdapat 24 sampel dan 4 kali pengulangan. Analisis data menggunakan One Way Anova untuk mengetahui perbedaan penurunan kadar amoniak terhadap variasi berat karbon aktif. 
Hasil analisis statistik menunjukan bahwa nilai p 0,000 < α 0,05 yang berarti ada perbedaan penurunan kadar amoniak terhadap variasi berat karbon aktif. Hasil rerata sesudah dilakukan perlakuan sedimentasi, aerasi dan adsorbsi menunjukan hasil sebesar 44,84 mg/L. Berat optimum 20 gram dan persentasi penurunan 37,79%.  
Penelitian selanjutnya agar dapat memperpanjang waktu kontak dan mengganti karbon aktif dengan ukuran permukaan yang lebih luas. Untuk industri tahu agar melakukan perawatan dan perbaikan pada bangunan IPAL. Hal ini bertujuan agar kualitas limbah cair yang dihasilkan memenuhi baku mutu.

The tofu industry is one of industries that produce liquid waste contained organic materials. Those organic materials will be broken down by microorganisms to amoniak. The excessive amoniak will disturb healthy and environment. The ways can be used to process liquid waste of tofu industry are sedimentation, aeration, and adsorbtion. This research was going to know the ability of sedimentation, aeration, and adsorbtion process in reducing the degree of amoniak in liquid waste of tofu industry. 
The kind of the research was experimental, using Posttest Only Control Group Design. There were 24 samples and 4 times of repetition. The data analysis used One Way Anova to knowing the differences of reducing the degree of amoniak that concern to variation of active carbon weight.
The result of statistic showed the value of p 0.000 < α 0.05 that mean there were differences  of reducing the degree of amoniak that concern to variation of active carbon weight. The average after done sedimentation, aeration, and adsorbtion showed result 44.84 mg/L. The optimum weight was 20 grams and reducing percentation 37.79%. 
The next research is order to extend the period of contact and change the active carbon with a wider surface. To the tofu industry I expected to take care and repair IPAL building. These things are going to the liquid waste can fulfill quality standard.
